The full-form of CCL is Central Coal Fields. This industry is one among the five subsidiaries of Coal India Limited, which is under the care of the Government of India. CCL controls and manages the Coal Mines Authority's coal mines, Central division. The headquarters of CCL is located at Darbhanga House, Ranchi. It is founded in the year 1975, in the month of November. CCL currently has 65 operative coal mines, in which 20 are underground and 45 opencast, located in east and west Bokaro, north and south Karanpura, Ramgarh Giridih, and Hutar. CCL's facilities include 1 central workshop located in Barkakana, 5 coking coal washeries and 1 non-coking coal washery, 5 workshops located in Jarandih, Tapin North, Giridih, Dakra, and Bhurkunda.
