CNCI stands for Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute. This institute is a cancer care research institute as well as hospital and it is one among the other 25 regional cancer centres of our country. This centre is situated at Kolkata at Hazra More near to Jatin Das Park metro station. Initially in the year 1950, this was formally inaugurated by Prof. Madam J. Curie. This was named after Chittaranjan Das and named it as Chittaranjan Cancer Hospital that was later changed as Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute. This was named after his name as a tribute to and in the salutation of the huge donation of the land and property for this noble cause.
At that time with the assistance and provision of Dr. B.C. Roy a renowned physician and then chief minister of their state, West Bengal, the groundwork of the present day Chittaranjan Cancer Hospital (CCH) was laid. As mentioned earlier the hospital was formally inaugurated by Prof. Madam J. Curie during January of 1950.
Originally this was only a Cancer treatment centre, and that steadily extended its actions in clinical and a very basic research with the support from government funding administrations. This ultimately led to the establishment of the Chittaranjan National Cancer Research Centre (CNCRC) that is funded by the government of India during the year 1957, which was devoted to basic study on cancer.
Application Procedure and mode of selection:
Log on to Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute’s official website and go to their careers page. Find the notification of the job you are interested in applying for. Then go through the notification clearly and check for all the eligibility criteria they have mentioned in their advertisement, such as nationality restrictions, essential skills, education qualification, and the specialization necessary, maximum age limit and relaxations, relevant work experience if it is required and nature of experience, etc. Read the job description to know the nature of appointment (if it is a temporary post or a permanent one).
Most of the positions they give in the advertisement would be for a tenure of one year. So check for those details before proceeding further. They usually open for walk in mode of interviews, so there is no need to submit any application form either online or through offline. Once you make sure that you fulfil all the eligibility criteria you can directly walk in to the interview with all the supporting documents. There would be an application form, that has to be filled completely and the applicant has to carry it to the interview. The recruitment is done based on the performance of the candidate during that interview, only if the candidate meets all the eligibility criteria mentioned in the notification. No dining or travelling allowance would be provided for attending the interview.
