About the directorate

The Department of Education is one the chief departments of the Government of Manipur and takes care about the school education in Manipur state. At the government state, it is headed by Honourable Minister of Education as the head of the management. Shri Th. Kirankumar, IAS is the Director of the department and Vineet Joshi, IAS as the Principal Secretary of Edu (S), Government of Manipur. The establishment of the Education Department of Manipur heads back to the year 1903. Earlier to the year 1950 there was no distinct Department of Education in Manipur. A distinct Department of Education was established initially for the first time in the state of Manipur during the starting of the year 1950.

The nomenclature and duties of the Department have experienced changes from time to time. Since the year 1974, for the determination of control and administration, all primary schools in the hill districts of Manipur were relocated to apprehensive autonomous district bodies. The Department of Education nevertheless engaged the power of administration and assessment, framing of programme and syllabi and assortment of the textbooks.

Mode of Recruitment

The candidates shortlisted on the basis of their qualification will be called to appear in the written test. Names of the candidates will be shortlisted for written test (qualifying in nature) on the basis of their performance in the written test. A merit list of candidates will be prepared on the basis of the marks obtained in the written test. The Committee constituted to conduct the Written Test or a Practical Trade Test will decide the minimum qualifying marks for Written / Practical Trade Test in accordance with the number of vacancies and performance of the candidates and their decision shall be final.
