Goa Pollution Control Board


The Goa State Pollution Control Board was constituted during the year 1988. This is an autonomous statutory organization that comes under the water act, i.e., prevention and control of pollution, 1974. Earlier to this, when Goa was formed as a part of the union territory of Goa, under Daman and Diu, all the functions were performed by the central board for the prevention and control of water pollution. Later a section office was established by the central pollution control board to serve this purpose. This same procedure sustained until the constitution of the state board. Later this section office was re-organized as a west zonal office and had been shifted to Baroda during 1988. At that time all the records that belong to Goa were being transferred to the Goa State Pollution Board in the year 1988. They established their office in the Goa Medical College Complex, located at Bambolim, after its constitution. In the year 1991, the board at Patto Panaji got their own independent premises allotted by the Government of Goa. In August 2002 on Independence Day, this pollution control board got their new premises in Dempo Tower at Patto Plaza, located at Panaji. Then they shifted their full belongings to this new premises. Later on, the board has acquired the fourth floor in the same building and this was dedicated as their laboratory. They mainly focus on acts and rules relating to pollution control, and regularly monitor air quality, water quality, noise pollution, industry release statistics, etc. They also set guidelines for mobile towers.

Application Procedure:

The mode of application for all the posts advertised by Goa Pollution Control Board is via post. For multi tasking staff, skill test would be conducted.
