NIIST stands for The National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology (NIIST). It is located at Thiruvananthapuram of Kerala. This is a constituent Laboratory of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research - CSIR. Initially it was established during the year 1975 as a CSIR Complex, this was initially termed as the Regional Research Laboratory in the year 1978 and later it was renamed as NIIST during 2007. Their mandate is to conduct research and development actions of the top quality in zones connected to actual operation of resources of the area and of important importance to the nation. Presently, they are engaged in several research and development programmes in fields that are related to Chemical Sciences and technology, Microbial processes & technology, Agro-processing and technology, Materials Science and Technology, Environmental Technology. They have established state of the art facilities for leading and progressive research in the areas of interest. Experimental plant facilities for research training and procedure or manufactured goods development in the regions of spices and oilseeds have been recognized. The NIIST have also been playing a substantial role in Human Resource Development by training post graduate or graduate students, with more than 252 Ph.D. degrees awarded till now, built on research conducted in their institute.

This institute is steadily ranked as one of the top performance institutes among different 37 institutes under the CSIR organization. This organization adds up enormously to the development, nourishment and upgrading of the human science and technology resources of India and its support-umbrella shelters all age groups reaching from 16 to 65, in summing up to adopting human resources management systems that can increase its ability to construct a successful, high performance organizations. It is the contribution of CSIR to generate the pool of bench-level workforces in science that separates it from different funding agencies.

Application Procedure and selection process

Go through the notification very clearly and check for all the eligibility criteria given there. Generally for permanent positions they expect the candidates to apply online and as well as courier that filled in application form. Along with application form other supporting documents such as mark lists, coloured photograph, SSC, PUC, degree and other qualifying certificates has to attached along with the application form while couriering. All these documents has to be self attested. They do not accept any late applications. Payment has to be made through online mode. There are some relaxations for payments so pay attention to those details.

For some positions they recruit the candidates through written test followed by an interview. In other cases they screen the candidates and conduct interviews. For some temporary positions they open walk-in interviews.
