Job Description

Skills/ Qualifications:

Experience: 8 - 12 years of experience in the area of materials, processes, and product development in aerospace industry with:
Familiarity with international and industry specifications on materials, processes, and testing / standards, such as AMS, MIL, ASTM is a must.
Hands on experience in special processes (Heat treat, Forging, Casting, Plating, Coating etc), machining & NDT in an aerospace industry.
Experience in Aerospace product support and Quality assurance functions, Quality and product documentation, handling of process audits and special process approvals.
Hands-on experience in NADCAP audit coordination with respect to special processes.
Proficiency in Laboratory material characterization (of metallic materials in particular) and hand-on experience on advanced laboratory characterization equipment.
Good technical report writing skills. Publications in reputed international journals and Experience in Failure Analysis, Physics based modelling of M&P, Additive Manufacturing, Modelling on structure property correlation, exposure to Database tools like Granta, Total materilia will be added advantages.
Knowledge of 3D modelling using CATIA / NX, PLM tools (Citrix, Team Center, SAP etc.,) is must.

Responsibilities:

Manufacturing Process Reviews from the standpoint of raw materials, special processes, NDT methods, laboratory testing etc., to ensure conformance to drawing / company / industry specifications – Checker function.
Supporting Manufacturing and Sourcing functions in the area metallic materials and processes and creating engineering database in these areas.
Identification, Development and Qualification of suppliers in India / APAC region for high strength / special steels, aluminum alloys, titanium alloys, super-alloys etc. for aerospace applications.
Support process, job, and surveillance audits of suppliers for products and special processes in India / APAC region and qualification of these suppliers to NADCAP requirements.
Coordinating R&D work for Collins in India in the area of development of new materials and new processing technologies.
Development of design allowables - coordinating related mechanical/metallurgical tests in-house and/or collaboration with external test labs.
Providing guidance for design, manufacturing, and EH&S teams in identifying and precluding use of banned and restricted substances in accordance with REACh and ROHS regulations
