ECHS stands for Ex – Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme. It comes under the department of ESW, of ministry of Defence
The concept of the ECHS is to manage via the current infrastructure of the armed forces in order to lessen the administrative spending. The current infrastructure comprises of control and command structure, procurement associations for medical and non medical equipment, extra capacity of service medical facilities in several hospitals and MI Rooms, defence buildings and other lands etc.

d. Finally to Empanel several diagnostic centres and civil hospitals.
Application procedure for ECHS
For most of the positions, the mode of application is through post or courier or by hand, in some cases they accept applications via email. There would be an application form along with their official notification that can be downloaded from their downloads page. Interested candidate can download the application form, get a print out and then duly fill the form, sign it and then enclose all the self attested photocopies of documents and certificates that they mention in their notification such as qualification supporting documents, experience, age proof, training, etc. All these have to be enclosed and send to the address they mentioned in the notification. The application form and those supporting documents have to reach them before the deadline. They do not entertain any applications that reach after the deadline.
Selection process:
Most of the jobs recruited by them are on a temporary or contractual basis, they initially recruit the candidates on a short term or temporary contractual basis and they extend the duration of the job if the performance of the candidate is satisfactory. But they are not permanent positions.
For initial screening, the shortlisting of the candidates is done based on the merit list. Candidates will get placed only if the applicants qualify for all the necessary requirements mentioned in the advertisement. The mode of selection for almost all the posts is through face to face interviews.

They release notifications for a wide range of roles such as medical specialist, medical officer, lab technician, nursing assistant, physiotherapist, pharmacist, dental hygienist, data entry operator, driver, clerk, cleaners, and many such jobs.
