About the Company

Forest Survey of India (FSI) is an entity under the governance of the Ministry of Environment & Forests (Govt. of India). Its first order of importance is surveying and assessing forest resources in India. ​

It was started as an entity called the Pre-Investment Survey of Forest Resources (PISFR) in 1965. The drastic change in information needs resulted in enhancing the scope of its activities and it was later reorganized as the Forest Survey of India in 1981. FSI has 4 zonal offices named Northern Zone (Shimla), Eastern Zone (Kolkata), Central Zone (Nagpur), Southern Zone (Bangalore).

Forest Fire Monitoring

One of the regular phenomena of India in the summer season is forest fires. Using the remote based satellite technology and Geographic Information System, FSI has been successfully able to prevent and manage forest fires by alarming the fire sensitive areas.

Forest Cover Mapping

Using the satellite data, FSI assesses the forest cover mapping. The prime objective of this project is to present the information on Indian forest resources at the district and state level on a scale of 1:50,000. 

Forest Inventory

Since its inception, using aerial photographs and a statistical approach, FSI has been conducting an assessment on Forest Resource in a relatively large area. With an in-house trained team along with foreign experts, FSI is involved in designing the methods of data processing and forest inventory.

All the required fields of the application to be filled and all the self-attested documents mentioned in the application form to be sent via registered post to the specified address in the application form.

As per the trend of FSI hiring process, online examination is being conducted as a screening process for which applications to be submitted online.

An incompletely filled application for or any missing document will result in canceling the application without any communication to the candidate.

Selection Process

Once the last date to accept the applications is crossed, shortlisted candidates will be called out to appear in a written exam or face-to-face interview, or skill test, or a combination of any of the three tests based on the requirement for the role.

Based on the eligibility criteria such as relevant experience, educational background, age criteria, and caste reservation, the final selected candidate's list will be announced.
