About the University

Gauhati University was established the beginning of the year 1948. It started functioning from the academic year of 1948 as an associating, education and residential university in a few provisional constructions situated in Guwahati, The main objective of Gauhati University is to convey about social, cultural, economic, moral and spiritual upliftment of the people from Assam state. As stated in the objects and reasons affixed to the Gauhati University Bill, of the year 1947, “Assam offers great opportunities of study in many fields-linguistic, historical, ethnological, archaeological, geological, scientific and agricultural aspects. It will be the objective of the proposed University to strengthen the study of the period long spirit of Assamese life and eccentric, and to convey in them the essential modifications in relation to Indian civilization and to the diverse and new instincts of the West. The aspiration of seeing the university “illumine the banks of the Luit” is mirrored in the college’s anthem, Jilikaba Luitare Par, which was composed by Bhupen Hazarika.

Application Procedure

The candidates must ascertain their eligibility before applying, they do not accept any applications from the candidates do not fulfilling the eligibility mentioned by them. Mode of Recruitment

For most of the notifications advertised by them, the selection procedure is through a face to face interview. After successful submission of your application, they shortlist the candidates that are eligible for the interview. They will inform the candidates same via email or post it on their website. So the shortlisted candidates would have to attend the interview on the specified date with all the documents required. In some cases, for non-technical jobs, they would open for walk-in interviews. In such cases, the job offer would be given to the eligible candidates based on the performance during the interview.
