About the company:

The full form of HPSC is The Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC). Public Service Commissions are amongst the foremost vital Public establishments with long traditions that have been serving the nation well, each at the Union and at the State level. The founding of this commission had its origin within the history of Indian nationalism and also the tenacious demand of the leaders of freedom movement for enlightened Indianisation of the government officials beneath British Raj. The Montagu-Chelmsford Report acknowledged in essence the demand for Indianisation of the higher civil services and consequently a facility for the same was created in the Government of India Act, 1919. The Royal Commission of the Superior government officials in India under the leadership of Lord Lee, in its 1924 Report, suggested the establishment of Public Service Commission of our country. The public Service Commission of India was started in the year 1926 under the guidance of Sir Ross Barker.

The 1st Commission at the regional level was the Madras Service Commission established in 1930 under a 1929 Act of the Madras legislature. Later the govt. of India Act, 1935 agreed for the setting up of a Public Service Commission for every Province. Therefore, under the 1935 Act seven Public Service Commissions were established in 1937 for the provinces of province (at Shillong), Central Provinces, Bihar and Orissa (at Ranchi),  West Bengal (at Calcutta), Mumbai and Sindh (at Bombay), Madras (at Madras), Punjab and North-West (at Lahore) additionally at the United Provinces (at Allahabad). All the State Public Service Commissions together with the heirs of the older Provincial Public Service Commissions came into existence when the reorganization of States after independence took place. The State of Haryana got established under the provisions of Punjab Re-Organization Act, 1966. Due to this state formation, in 1966 the Haryana Public Service Commission also came into its presence.
