About the Institute

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi is one among the other twenty three IIT’s formed to be the main centres of brilliance in terms of research, training, and development in engineering, science and technology in our country.

This institute was established as a college of Engineering during the year 1961 later it got declared as an Institution of national importance under the Institutes of Technology Amendment Act of the year 1963. Later this got its new name as ‘Indian Institute of Technology Delhi’. Then this institute got rendered the status of a Deemed University with supremacies to conduct its own examinations, and to reward its own grades and to choose its own academic dogma,

Since its beginning, more than 48000 students have graduated from this institute covering several disciplines that includes Engineering, Management, Physical Sciences, and Humanities and Social Sciences. Out of these 48000 degrees, approximately 5070 are of doctorate degrees. The rest are either graduate degrees or post graduate degrees.

The alumni of IIT Delhi are successful as, technologists, scientists, business managers and entrepreneurs, not only in India also globally. There are numerous alumni who have moved away from their actual specializations and have taken to managerial services, even active in politics or are with NGOs. By involving in all these, they have contributed significantly for the building of our nation, and to industrial and economic development around the world.

Application Procedure:

To apply for any of the posts released by IIT Delhi, interested candidates are advised to visit their official website. Find the notification you are interested in and go through all the details mentioned there. Check for the eligibility criteria like basic education qualification required, maximum age limit, number of positions vacant, whether the job is on a contractual or permanent basis, the deadline for submitting your application form, etc. Make sure that you are an eligible candidate for that position and then you can start with your application process. For some of the positions mainly faculty jobs, the mode of application is online submission. Fill up the application form with required details and upload all the necessary documents. Finally, please submit your application form after verifying your details. For non-academic staff, research positions or other positions there would be an application form, download the form, fill up all the details and mail it to the specified mail id along with other supporting documents.

Selection process:

The mode of recruitment depends on the job title and its experience. For some of the posts they recruit the candidates through written test and an interview. For faculty positions they shortlist the candidates directly for face to face interviews based on their application. For some non-technical posts like doctors and related posts they call the candidates for a walk-in interview so the offer is given based on their performance during the interview.

IIT Delhi releases notifications for various non teaching jobs such as assistant librarian, medical officer, technical officer, a junior technician in various departments, visiting consultant, senior security officer, student counselor, associate project engineer, junior assistant, etc. For technical positions, they will have openings for assistant and associate professors, professors; research assistants,  junior research fellows, senior research fellows, etc.
