KPTCL stands for Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited. This is a registered company that comes under the Companies Act of 1956 and then it was incorporated during 1999 and is a company solely owned by the Government of Karnataka with an official share capital of around Rs. 2182.32 crores. This corporation was formed in the year 1999 by carving out the Transmission and Distribution functions of the former Karnataka Electricity Board.

This is headed by a Chairman and Managing Director at their corporate office. He is aided by four functional Directors. Their Board consists of a maximum of twelve directors.

KPTSC is mainly entrusted with the roles of Transmission of power in their whole State of Karnataka and also Construction of Stations & Transmission Lines and upkeep of 400/220/110/66 KV Sub-Stations. Several new lines and Sub-Stations were also added and already existing stations were improved in the Transmission network.

The various wings of KPTCL are State Load Despatch Centre, Corporate Office at Kaveri Bhavan, Bangalore, SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) Six Transmission zones, and every zone is headed by a Chief Engineer.

KPTCL is now entrusted with the charge of transmitting power all over the Karnataka state and building and maintenance of lines of 66KV and stations and above.

Application Procedure and mode of selection

For applying to any of the posts released by Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited, the candidate has to visit their official website and go to careers section. Look for the notification of the post you are willing to apply. Check for all the details given there clearly, look for all the eligibility criteria such as age limit, basic education qualifications required and specialization they mentioned, the number of vacancies, whether the post is on a contractual basis or a permanent one, application fee if applicable, the last date for submitting of the application form, etc. Once you make sure that you fulfill all the eligibility criteria they mentioned, you can start with your application process. Apply online on their official portal. Please fill up the application form completely and upload all the mandatory documents asked by them. Lastly, submit your application form. The only mode of application is via offline mode, through e-challan, that has to be pain from the nearest post office.

The mode of selection mainly depends on the job role. For engineer positions they mainly recruit through written test and the job is offered solely depending on the marks obtained in the written test. For other positions they will ask the candidates through some typing test or any senior grade shorthand examination. So they are recruited based on their performance in that test.
