About:

The full form of KSRTC is Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation. This is wholly owned by state government of Karnataka aimed for public road transport. Their corporation has the largest fleet of Volvo buses amongst the state owned road transport corporations in our country. Initially in the year 1948 the state of Mysore inaugurated Mysore Government Road Transport Department with 120 buses.  It was administered by their state till 1961. Later Bangalore transport services also got merged with MSRTC. In1973 MSRTC got renamed as KSRTC.

Currently, their corporate office is situated at Shanthi Nagar in Bangalore. Apart from its subsidiaries KSRTC covers seventeen districts including Bangalore urban and rural, Kolar, Chickballapur, Ramnagar, Chitradurga, Tumkur, Mangaluru, Udipi, Shivamogga, Mysuru, Hassan, Chamarajnagar, Kodagu, Mandya, Chikkamangaluru and Davanagere, all these come under the state’s operational jurisdiction. They have 17 divisions and 16 are operating. KSRTC consists of 166 bus stations, 84 depots, 1 central training institute, 4 regional workshops, 1 hospital, 1 printing press and 2 regional training institutes.

Application Procedure:

For almost all the advertisements released by KSRTC, the mode of application is via online mode. The interested candidates are recommended to go to the careers page of the KSRTC official site and check for the notification you are interested and eligible to apply. Go through the notification clearly, check for the eligibility criteria such as basic education qualification required and the specialization or field they are looking for, maximum age limit, relevant work experience required in the particular field, etc. Once you make sure that you are an eligible applicant, you can start with your application procedure. Register on their careers page and click on the ‘apply online’ next to the notification and start filling your application form. Fill up all the details in the application form and upload all the required and supporting documents. Finally, submit your application form after verifying your details. Once the application is done application fee has to be paid through online mode. Check their notification for a clear idea about the payment procedure. In most cases KSRTC does not need any application fee.

Selection process:

For most of the posts advertised on their website, the selection process is through a written test followed by a face to face interview. After successfully submitting your application form, they would shortlist the candidates that are eligible for the test. They inform the same through email and on their website. Admit cards can be downloaded from their page and that should be carried to the written test. They further shortlist the candidates based on the written test to attend the interview on the specified date with all the documents required.

Job types/roles:

They have openings for the positions like general manager, deputy general manager, assistant general manager, company secretary, drivers, conductor, technical assistant, security guard, etc. There are a variety of posts available in KSRTC. Interested candidates should keep checking their website for the latest job vacancies. Many of the posts are on a permanent basis, but some can be on a contractual or temporary basis.
