About the Company
National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), initially established as the National Institute of Communicable Diseases (NICD) at Kasauli, Himachal Pradesh in 1909. The Institute is administered by the Director-General of Health Services, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. Its primary goal was to control Malaria through the National Malaria Eradication Programme (NMEP). Due to the rapid success achieved in reducing Malaria, the Indian government decided to restructure and enlarge the activities of the institute in order to enhance its activities to take care of other deadly communicable diseases.
The institute was established with the most important task being to function as a nationwide centre of excellence for “control of communicable diseases”. In addition to that, other important functions included training and research in various areas using a multidisciplinary consolidated approach and also to provide expertise to the Indian States and Union Territories on swift assessment of health and lab-based diagnostic services. Along with the above-mentioned important functions, monitoring of communicable diseases and outbreak scrutinization are one of the integral functions of NCDC.
The Institute is headquartered in New Delhi and has 8 different branches located in Alwar (Rajasthan), Bengaluru (Karnataka), Coonoor (Tamil Nadu), Jagdalpur (Chattisgarh), Kozhikode (Kerala), Patna (Bihar), Rajahmundry (Andhra Pradesh), and Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh).
There are various technical divisions instituted in the headquarters such as Division of Biochemistry and Biotechnology, Division of Zoonosis, Division of Malariology and Coordination, Centre for HIV/AIDS and related diseases, Centre for Epidemiology and Parasitic Diseases Division of Microbiology, and Centre for Medical Entomology and Vector Management.
In each of the above-mentioned divisions, there are various sections and labs which deal with different kinds of communicable diseases. The labs are well equipped and capable of performing tests using the latest technology. The divisions are also well-staffed, equipped, and capable of carrying out training activities, field studies, and research.

Selection Process
Walk-in-interview has been the only mode of selection process being carried out by the institution. There were a few occasions where the online written examination was conducted for some of the lower-level positions where bulk-hiring was required.
The final selected candidate's list will be announced on the official website of NCDC.
