NDRI stands for ‘National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI)’. It is located in Karnal of Haryana state. This is a leading research organisation under the guidance of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). This centre is affianced in providing research and development support for dairy growth programmes of our country and is an extremely alleged university for human resource improvement in the areas of dairying and related sciences. Over these years, it has gained importance as the front position research administration on global basis. The Institute works in close connexion with several international and national developmental organisations. Scientific accomplishments, expansion of human resource at multi-tier level and infusion of science in several sectors of the dairy industry have been the trademarks of the Institute. The organisation catalyses close interaction among students, scientists, farmers and dairy industry for orchestrating dairy growth process in a harmonious way.

This institute was established during the year 1923 at Bangalore of Karnataka state. The headquarters of the organization were moved to their current location at Karnal in the year 1955. It has two regional stations, one at Bangalore and the other at Kalyani for providing region specific provision suited to their agro-climatic situations. The Institute has three major areas of research and development activities through

1.     Dairy Production

2.     Dairy Processing and

3.     Dairy Extension and Management

All the research and development actions are achieved via thirteen research divisions or the sections. This institute also have a Business Planning and Development (BPD) unit, Agricultural Technology Information Centre (ATIC), Artificial Breeding Research Centre and Krishi Vigyan Kendra and Dairy Training Centre. There are over thousand students enrolled in different disciplines for post-graduation courses, under-graduation, and doctoral programmes.

Most of the notifications released by NDRI are on a contractual basis. They mostly open for walk in mode of interviews. For walk in interviews candidates do not need to apply anywhere. Eligible candidates can directly reach the venue on the specified time and date with all the supporting documents. For other research positions the mode of application is via email. Interested and eligible candidates have to send them a mail with application form and all the soft copies of supporting documents. They screen the candidates based on their eligibility and academic credentials and call them for a face to face interview. So the job would be offered based on the performance during the interview.
