About the institute

NIE stands for The National Institute of Epidemiology and this was established during the year 1999. This got started by amalgamation the Central JALMA Institute for Leprosy (CJIL Field Unit), Avadi with the Institute for Research in Medical Statistics (IRMS), Chennai. The extensive purposes of the Institute cover Development of human resources in epidemiology and bio-statistics, Networking of the several ICMR and non-ICMR Organizations at the country wide for epidemiological purposes, and consultancy.

The main vision of NIE is to be a facilitator for a vivacious national health system via receptive research, education and training in epidemiology and also public health. The mission of this institute are to successfully subsidise in increasing the quality of life of Indian citizens and persuading public health exercise and rules via research, education and training. They make every effort to achieve their mission by working with domestic and global associates in health study with operative use of ground-breaking state-of-art technologies. They are also aligning their research with all crucial stakeholders to produce and apply evidence centred health strategies for an active and resourceful domestic health system. They also set standards in community health education that would accentuate proficiency as a core capability. They also strengthening the human resources for national public health services via the teaching and training and building bridges via the instructive and research organizations.

Application Procedure

The application form is given along with the notification. Interested and eligible candidates can submit their filled application form along with supporting documents should be submitted through Email ID on or before closing date mentioned in the notification. Candidates should attach photocopies of educational qualification and experience and other testimonials duly self – attested along with filled application. The crucial date for determining the age limit shall be the closing date for receipt of application. Experience certificate should clearly state the nature of work during the period of employment. Appointment order, pay slip will not be accepted in place of experience certificate. Experience certificate should contain designation, salary per month and duration. No-Objection Certificate from the current employer (for Govt. or AB or PSU Servants only). Travelling allowance or dining allowance will not be paid by NIE for attending the written test or the interview. Incomplete applications and applications without relevant enclosures will be out rightly rejected.

Mode of Recruitment

Date, time and place of interview will be intimated by Email separately to the eligible candidates. Selection for most of the positions will be made strictly on the basis of merit, experience, qualification and the performance in the interview. They directly reject the applications from candidates that do not meet the eligibility given by them. For some non technical positions they might open for walk in mode of interviews, where the jobs are given based on the performance during that interview.
