National Institute of Technology, Puducherry, in short, called as NITPY is situated in an area of 258 acres located near Poovam village in Thiruvettakudy of Karaikal. This is one of the 32 NIT’s that are present in the country. This institute got sanctioned in the year 2009, by the government of India, it was a part of eleventh five year plan during the period 2007 to 2012.

The B.Tech admissions to this institute are done depending on the marks obtained in the JEE – Mains. Among all the seats 50 percent of the seats are given to their home state students from Karaikal, Mahe, Puducherry, Yanam and Andaman Nicobar islands. The rest 50 percent of the seats for the students from rest of the places. Admissions to M.Tech are based on their Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering. Finally Ph.D. and post doc positions are admitted based on the institute’s entrance examinations and interview. They offer several courses and specializations for undergraduate, post graduate, and doctorate studies.

Application procedure selection criteria

For non-teaching positions the mode of application is via post or courier. The application form can be downloaded from the recruitment page of their website. Interested and eligible (fulfilling all the eligibility criteria mentioned by them in their notification) candidates have to fill up the application form and sign it. Along with the filled up application form, enclose necessary documents and courier it to their mentioned address. They do not accept any applications they receive after the deadline. So make sure your application reached well before the deadline.

For teaching positions the application has to be sent via email and also courier the hard copy of application form. The mail has to be sent with application form and other supporting documents. For sending offline application the procedure is same as non-teaching applications.

Selection criteria

They scrutinize the applications received and any incomplete applications would be rejected. Applicants not eligible for the post will not be considered too. They call the candidates to attend for either proficiency test or skill test or written test or face to face interview. The mode of selection depends on the designation.

Every year NITPY recruits for various non teaching and teaching positions. They generally recruit professors, assistant professors and associate professors under teaching category. They recruit for several non teaching positions such as executive engineer, technical assistant from backgrounds of CSE, CIVIL and ECE; superintendents, junior and senior assistants, office attendants, etc.
