NMDC Limited - formerly known as National Mineral Development Corporation. This is an Indian public sector mineral manufacturer. This company is 69.65% owned by the Government of our country, and so it is under the administrative control of the Ministry of Steel.

They are mainly involved in the exploration of iron ore, rock phosphate, copper, limestone, gypsum, dolomite, bentonite, diamond, tin, tungsten, magnesite, graphite, and many more ores.

NMDC is India's largest iron ore producer as well as exporter, they are producing more than thirty five million tonnes of iron ore from 3 mechanized mines in the states of Chhattisgarh and Karnataka. They also operate the only mechanized diamond mine present in our country, that is located at Panna of Madhya Pradesh state.

NMDC Limited is also spread into other raw materials for the steel industry, for example low silica limestone. Production of dead burnt magnesite and more value addition is under study over its subsidiary J K Mineral Development Corporation Limited.

This corporation has got power over a silica sand mining and beneficiation project from UP State Mineral Development Corporation Limited. The plant is designed to produce beneficiated high purity silica sand to a capacity of over 300,000 tonnes every year as the raw material for manufacturing of float or sheet glass.

A memorandum of accepting has been employed between them and, Indian Rare Earths Limited, (IRE) and Andhra Pradesh Mineral Development Corporation to inaugurate a joint venture for the improvement of Bheemuni patnam Beach Sand. The project envisions mining of beach sands, to set up of mineral separation plant for ilmenite concentrate and a downstream worth addition plant for transformation of ilmenite into synthetic rutile or TiO2 slag or TiO2 pigment with pig iron as a by-product.

In country of Australia, Legacy Iron Ore, a majority owned NMDC company, holds majority stakes in gold and iron ore projects in the regions of Western Australia. They were also awarded the Corporate Social Responsibility Award Global Metals Award during the year 2018 in the Corporate Social Responsibility category in London, and this is the first time since inception that an Indian company got the award.

Application procedure

For most of the posts released by NMDC, the eligible candidates should apply on the institute's website. They have an application fee for some posts, and the payment has to be made by using online payment through various modes. There would not be any offline payment, or the paid fee would not be refunded once paid.

Mode of selection

Shortlisting of the candidates is done on the merit base if the applicants qualify all the necessary requirements mentioned in the advertisement. The mode of selection for almost all the posts is through written test followed by face to face interview.
