About:

The full form of SAIL is Steel Authority of India Limited. SAIL comes under one of the Maharatna’s of India’s Central Public Sector Enterprises. The Government of India owns around 65% of the SAIL’s share values. However, SAIL has the privilege of being a part of Maharatna and enjoys its financial autonomy because  of  that. This is one of the largest steel-producing companies in our country.

SAIL has its origin since the Independence. They started SAIL with a vision to lay the infrastructure and for the industrialization of India. The steel sector was one of the main propel to measure economic growth, so it was set up in the year 1954 under the name of Hindustan Steel Limited. Since then it has grown a lot and still improving its performance in every department of its.

They produce iron and steel at their three special steel plants and five integrated plants. Their branches are located mostly in the eastern and central regions of India and in the areas where the raw material is easily available or transported. They manufacture and sell a wide range of iron and steel products.

Application Procedure:

For most of the notifications released by SAIL, the mode of application is through courier. Candidates have to download and get a print out of the application form, fill it and sign the form. Later the application fee has to be paid through SBI collect. Courier the application form along with necessary documents to the address mentioned in their advertisement.

For management trainee posts, the mode of application would be online, and payment can be made through net banking if applicable.

Selection process:

SAIL generally conducts walk in interview for positions like RHOs, Registrars, senior registrars, doctors, etc. So you can walk into the specified venue on the date and time they mention in their advertisement along with the documents needed. They select candidates based on the performance in the interview.

The mode of selection would be through written test and interview for other posts.

For graduate trainee positions, recruitment happens through GATE, only from certain specializations like mechanical, electrical, metallurgy, chemical, etc. Candidates should apply for the posts before the GATE test. Based on their GATE rank, applicants are called to attend the interview. On successfully clearing the interview, they would be offered a job, and this job is on a permanent basis. These positions are highly competitive.

Job types or roles:

SAIL has many branches across India. So the recruitment also happens in a wide range and for different positions. The job roles or types they release notification are like management trainee from departments such as mechanical, electrical, metallurgy, chemical, instrumentation, mining, etc. They also recruit medical specialist, medical officers, nurses, fire engineer, operator cum technician (trainees in departments of boiler operation, drill operator, hearth man, etc.), attendant cum technician for boiler operation, pharmacist, a junior medical technologist in various departments like radiology, ophthalmology, audiology ENT, dental hygienist, manager posts in mechanical maintenance of hydraulic systems, caster area, converter, etc. There are many other jobs they offer every year.
