The full form of TMC is Tata Memorial Centre. This is situated in Parel, Mumbai in India. It is also popularly known as TMH. It is a specialized cancer treatment hospital and a research centre. TMC is closely associated with the Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research and Education in Cancer (ACTREC). This is a national all-inclusive cancer centre for the treatment, education, prevention and research about cancer. TMC is recognized as one of the world’s leading cancer centres. This is an autonomous body controlled and oversees the administration of institute and funded by the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India, since 1962.
The Tata Memorial Hospital was initially founded by the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust in 1941. In the year 1952, the Indian Cancer Research Centre was established as an innovator research centre for fundamental research known as the Cancer Research Institute. In 1957, the Ministry of Health, Government of India took over this Tata memorial hospital. This emerged as a classic example of private philanthropy augmented with a mandate for education, research and service in cancer by the Government of India.
Every year approximately 30,000 cancer patients visit their hospitals from all over the country and other neighbouring countries. Almost 70% of these patients get their treatment free of cost.
For faculty positions (assistant professor, professors, associate professors) the mode of application is online. They accept the applications only through online mode. Incomplete applications would not be considered.
For posts like technicians in various fields, TMC releases advertisement for walk in interviews. So, there would not be any application needed, candidates qualifying all the basic requirements that are mentioned in the advertisement, can directly reach the venue on the specified date for the interview.
For nurses, applicants do not need to apply online, and they can directly go for walk-in on the mentioned dates.
The applicants will be screened initially based on their academic records. Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview or a written test or a skill test. The same will be informed through their registered email id. While attending for the test or the interview, candidates are expected to carry their application form along with other supporting documents like birth certificate, educational qualification certificates such as mark sheets and passing certificates, experience certificates, caste certificate if applicable, etc.
Mode of interview for technicians (of all fields) and nurse posts is through walk-in, face-to-face interviews.
Job types/roles in TMC:
They have various openings like pharmacist, a technician in multiple trades at HBCH / MPMMCC, Varanasi, etc., senior resident, medical officer, nurses, project nurses, adhoc nurses and contract nurses, assistant professor, associate professors and professor in various departments like surgical oncology, anaesthesiology, bone and soft tissue, medical oncology, paediatric oncology, pathology, radio diagnosis, nuclear medicine, gynaec oncology, gastroenterology, etc. The faculty positions are full time and mostly on a permanent basis if not mentioned otherwise. The technician posts are initially for a period of one year and they are extended if necessary.
