The Tripura Service Commission was established during the year 1919. This commission was initially incorporated under article 98C of the government of India Act. Currently, this commission is located at the old Assembly House of Tripura located at Akhaura Road in Agartala. According to the constitutional provisions their functions include public service commissions for the states and the union. Also appointment and period of office of its members. They also function for the removal and suspension of a member under the public service commission. They have the power to follow regulations as to conditions to service the staff and members of the Tripura PSC. Prohibition as to holding of offices by members of their commission on terminating to be such members. The main duty of Tripura PSC is to conduct examinations and interviews for appointments to various civil posts. They take care of all the matters relating to the mode of recruitment. They check on the principles that have to be followed to make promotions, appointments, transfers, and also the suitability of candidates. They take responsibility for disciplinary actions that affect a person who is in service under Tripura’s state government and the central government.
