About the corporation

VMC stands for The Vadodara Mahanagar Seva Sadan or Vadodara Municipal Corporation. This corporation was established during the year 1950 under the act of Bombay Provincial Corporation Act of the year 1949. This corporation is accountable for the municipal infrastructure and management of the Vadodara city.

The governing structure of this corporation comprises of governmental and managerial wings. The political wing is a chosen body of councillors supervised by a mayor. The commissioner from the IAS cadre leads the administrative wing and is also accountable for planned and operational management and planning of the corporation.

This VMS has got the first ever acknowledged national award for 'Energy Conservation in Street Lighting’ by BEE during the year 2008, and it is awarded due to the reason of saving energy in street lighting with enhanced service and by means of modern technology for power saving. They again received the second national award for 'Energy Conservation in Street Lighting’ affirmed by BEE in the year 2010

Total range of coverage of VMC is around 160 Square kilometres and they have a total population of the municipal is more than 16 Lakhs. Around 1691 kilometers of street lighting is covered in vadodara during the years 2007 to 2008.

Selection process:

For most of the posts, there would be an skill test or either an offline test – depending on the job role- followed by an interview. For the candidates clarifying in this preliminary examination, there would be a face to face interview. Date, time and venue would be notified to the shortlisted candidates through their email id or they post it on their website. On qualifying, the test next step would be face to face interview and document verification and for this case, they require original documents. For some temporary jobs they might recruit directly after conducting face to face interview.
