The full form of WBPSC is West Bengal Public Service Commission. This is the state agency that is authorized to conduct examinations of civil services for entry level appointments to the different civil services for their state – West Bengal in our country.

The evolution of WBPSC traces back to continuous demands from the educated Indians for getting admission into Indian civil services. The Constitution of India has started its consultation with the Public Service Commission on topics regarding the appointment and some other related topics as specified in Article 320. The PSC has the responsibilities relating to matters detailed in that Article. These include conducting examinations for appointment to civil services and posts under the state government and recommending the State Government on all subjects relating to mode of recruitment to Civil Services and positions, in making transfers and also promotions from one service to other service,  on the values to be maintained while making appointments to Civil Services and posts and on the suitability of candidates for such appointments, promotions or transfers and on all corrective matters affecting a person serving under the State Government in a civil capacity and on some other matters. They also contain a provision in terms of which extra purposes may be commended to the Commission by an Act made by the State Legislature as esteems the services of the State or any local authority or anybody corporate or any public institution.

Application Procedure:

Generally all the Public service commission posts accepts applications from Indian nationals only. Candidates interested in PSU jobs are suggested to go through their notification carefully on West Bengal Public Service Commission official website. Kindly check for all the eligibility criteria mentioned in their notification such as education qualification required, maximum age limit, relevant work experience in the specified field, etc. Follow the steps given in their notification. Selection process:

PSU’s generally conduct a preliminary exam, mains exam followed by a face to face interview to recruit for most of the positions. Eligible candidates would have to attend the preliminary exam initially. After clearing the preliminary test, they would be eligible to attend the mains exam. Finally, the candidates clearing the mains exam would have to attend the face to face interview. The final job offer is given based on their performance during the interview.
